ACCESSIBLE SEATING
It is our goal to create an
environment where individuals with disabilities can come and
enjoy all of the events held at the George Mason University
Patriot Center. We have had an accessibility program since
1985, and we see this guide as an ongoing effort to improve
our services to our guests with disabilities. This
guide will provide information on our current accessibility
program and services. We are interested in your thoughts and
ideas on how to best ensure your full enjoyment of our events.
Please let us know how we might better serve you. Your support
and comments are appreciated.
For more information please click on each of the following
topics to view our accessibility program guide.
Access to the Patriot Center
Parking for guests with disabilities is located at the South
and West entrances. Van accessible parking spaces are located
adjacent to the South entrance. These spaces are well-marked
with the universal handicapped symbol and are monitored by
our staff. Please remember that all vehicles must display
state-issued accessible parking tags or placards to park in
these spaces. Curb cuts are adjacent to the accessible parking
areas. Additionally, the West entrance has a drop-off location
close to the entrance doors.
All public entrances are at the street/concourse level. Guests
with disabilities will find that there are no steps or ramps
to maneuver in order to enter the arena. All entrance doors
are monitored by our staff.
An elevator is normally available for use in assisting guests
with disabilities to access the arena floor. Elevator availability
can be limited, however, depending upon the type and nature
of a given event.
How to Request Accessible
Tickets
The Patriot Center provides accessible seating for guests
with physical, hearing or sight impairments.
Just fill out the accessible seating form below to request
your tickets for any Patriot Center events you would like
to attend!
Ticket Availability
Accessible seating is available at the Patriot Center Box
Office during regular business hours or by telephone.
Any individual with a disability may order tickets beginning
at the time of public sale through the Accessible Seating/Services
Office (Voice:703-993-3035 or TTY: 703-993-3080). Messages
left on this recording will be returned as soon as possible
generally by the following business day. All tickets will
be made available on a first-come/first-served basis. Accessible
seating will be held for each event until the accessible seating
is sold out or one week after all other arena seats are sold
out.
Ticket Pricing
Accessible seating for guests with mobility, vision and hearing
impairments is available in most price ranges.
Recognizing that it is not readily achievable to provide
seating in all prices for guests with mobility impairments,
the Patriot Center answers this need by providing seating
for individuals with a mobility impairment on the concourse
level. Individuals with mobility impairments may purchase
two tickets (for the guest with the disability and one companion)
on the concourse level at the lowest price available within
the established categories for the respective event.
A two dollar per ticket service charge will be assessed per
ticket. This service charge is standard for all advance ticket
sales at the Patriot Center Box Office.
When the Patriot Center offers a discount coupon for certain
priced seats, this discount will be offered to purchasers
of similarly priced accessible seating tickets.
The Patriot Center offers a group discount for most family
shows. Usually a group must consist of twenty (20) or more
individuals. This discount is available from our Group Sales
Office (202-661-5061). If anyone in the group needs accessible
seating, this must be communicated to the group sales representative.
Payments of Tickets
The Patriot Center accepts payment for accessible seating
tickets by cash, money orders or major credit cards. Personal
checks will be accepted for mail orders only. All orders for
accessible seating are processed by telephone, and payment
must be received within two weeks (10 business days) of placing
the order.
If time permits, all tickets will be mailed to purchasers.
Any orders that are received less than two weeks before the
event will be available at the Will Call window at the box
office once payment has been received.
Auxilliary Aids
The Patriot Center endeavors to provide an effective means
of communication for guests with hearing and/or vision impairments.
American Sign Language interpretation will generally be provided
when required. To ensure that the Patriot Center provides
a qualified sign language interpreter, all requests for this
service must be received 14 days in advance of the event date.
This lead time is required to coordinate requests with the
promoter/artist and the local interpreting agencies. All requests
for sign interpretation should be directed to the Accessible
Seating Office (Voice: 703-993-3035 or TTY: 703-993-3080).
The Patriot Center has installed an assistive listening system
for our hearing impaired guests. These are available on a
first-come, first-served basis. Headsets are available at
the event in our Guest Services Office.
The Patriot Center is equipped with audible and flashing
alarms in case of an emergency.
Accessible Services
The Patriot Center has a strong commitment to making all
services easily accessible for all guests.
All restrooms at the Patriot Center are accessible, both on the
concourse and the arena floor. All concession stands feature lowered
condiment stands. All water fountains are accompanied by cups for
ease of use.
